Introduction
Just Another Fool was a blog run by Logan Renault on Wordpress from July 29, 2009 to January 8, 2010 across 30 posts. It follows the story of a young man who receives the disturbing journal of a troubled friend who recently committed suicide. The original Wordpress blog is no longer available, but the story has been archived by Slender Man Arkive and is available to read at http://slendermanarkive.wikidot.com/just-another-fool
Synopsis
Logan receives a journal in the mail that belonged to his friend Matt Selby, who returned from Iraq with PTSD and later committed suicide in a mental hospital. Matt's journal contains many strange drawings alluding to Slender Man, which Logan photographs and posts on his blog. Logan also contacts the hospital to try to find out more about what happened to Matt.
Meanwhile, ever since Logan received the journal, he has been suffering from insomnia and nightmares about bodies hanging in a tree, engulfed in flames. A commenter, Dav Flamerock, reaches out to say that the drawings from the journal remind him of Slender Man, a myth that he has been researching. Logan confirms that the words "Slender Man" are written inside the journal as well.
Logan hears back from the doctors who were in charge of Matt's case. The doctors explain that Matt had one of the worst cases of PTSD they had ever seen. Matt was apparently researching Slender Man prior to a deadly attack on his squad in Iraq, and Matt believed that Slender Man was responsible for the attack. The details of the attack match aspects of the recurring nightmares Logan has been having.
Logan is understandably disturbed by all of this. The blog goes quiet for a few weeks, until Logan makes a cryptic post fearing for his life and sanity. The next post comes a month later and is written by Joshua, Logan's close friend. Logan is missing, and Joshua has filed a missing person's report with the police. As soon as Joshua picks up Matt Selby's old notebook from the police station, a man in a business suit causes Josh to crash his motorcycle. He does not understand the significance of this.
Joshua decides to get rid of the journal and agrees to send it to Dav Flamerock, who commented previously on Logan's blog. Dav posts photos of the notebook on the Unfiction forums, as well as videos on YouTube where he goes over the contents of the notebook in detail. Logan also continues to log in and make cryptic, intermittent posts on the blog, confirming that he is still alive, but he will not contact Joshua directly despite his pleas.
Blog followers used clues hidden inside Matt's journal to solve an ARG-style puzzle which involved calling Logan's phone number at a specific date and time. Those who solved the puzzle were sent torn out pages from a different journal belonging to Logan. One person received the entire journal and posted scans online for all to see. The journal, full of Logan's chaotic thoughts and drawings, reveals Logan's belief that he is immortal until Slender Man catches and kills him. He warns the reader to watch their back. Joshua also receives one of the pages from Logan's journal. It says that he is "next."
Logan's last post on the blog is a photograph that he took of himself in a park. When Joshua checks the blog, he recognizes the park as one that's very close to his house. He calls the police, and they find a body in the park the next day. The police ask Joshua to come in and ID the body. Joshua tells his readers that he will post again when he gets back, but he never does. The blog ends there.

Review
I'm very fond of this work, although I can't say that I completely understand it. It's one of the earliest Slender Man works, but it has a distinct flavor and appeal compared to Marble Hornets. The illustrations are eerie and impactful, and I love Slender Man's spider-like depiction. Short and strange, if you want to check out the blogs, this is a great place to start.
